Assessing your wellbeing regularly allows you to become more aware of what negatively impacts your wellbeing and allows you to pick wellbeing activities that can boost areas where you have a low score. One simple and effective way to assess your wellbeing is to score yourself out of 10 for each of the following six areas:
- Sleep /10
- Nutrition /10
- Exercise /10
- Rest & Relaxation /10
- Quality time with friends/family /10
- Fun /10
Add up your scores and give yourself a total out of 60.
Each week, identify an area or several areas where your scores need a boost and commit to taking action to boost the scores. For example, if your Exercise, Quality time with family/friends and Fun scores are low you could arrange to do something fun and active with a friend or family members. This might be to go on a bike ride, a walk or to play football, rounders etc. This way you can give several categories of wellbeing a boost all at once. If that’s not possible, you can focus on one at a time by identifying your lowest score and deciding on an action you can take to give that a boost i.e. ensuring you are asleep by 10pm each night to boost your sleep score. This activity can be done individually or with a whole class at tutor time once a week to do a wellbeing check and set wellbeing goals for the week ahead.
